Code on the Go was updated on September 16, 2026 from 26.38 to 26.38.1. If you experience crashes or other problems with 26.38, please download and install the updated version.
BREAKING CHANGES: Read Before Installing this Version
This release upgrades the toolchain for both the 32- and 64-bit apps. (Learn more about the upgrade.) After you install this release, existing projects created with earlier releases may not build correctly. If you’re not ready to upgrade, release 26.37 is still available on the download page.
Before you install this release, please read the migration guide and be prepared to follow its steps. The following video provides an overview of how to migrate existing projects to the new build.
New: Document Outline for Java, Kotlin, and XML
Because long files can be hard to navigate on a phone screen, Code on the Go now includes a Document Outline that provides a tree view of every class, method, and field in an open file. In the displayed outline, tap any item to jump to its location in the file.
Document Outline works across Java, Kotlin, and XML files, and updates automatically as you switch between them. The Document Outline button is located in the left-side navigation drawer, just below folder that represents the file tree.
To use the Document Outline, follow these steps:
- Tap the file menu. The Document Outline icon is visible below the file tree (folder) icon.
- Tap the Document Outline icon. An outline of the structure is displayed.
- Tap any symbol to jump straight to its location in the editor.
This short video shows Document Outline in action.
New: Optional Commit Watermark
Code on the Go can now add a “Made with Code on the Go” watermark to commits you make from the Git bottom sheet. Because code often ends up on a public host like GitHub, the watermark tells reviewers that the contribution came from a phone-only workflow, and puts Code on the Go’s name in real, working code out in the world.
You’ll see a preview of the watermark in the bottom sheet before you commit. You can turn the watermark off for a single project right from the commit section of the Git bottom sheet, or disable it everywhere in Preferences → Git.
Other Fixes and Improvements
- The Gradle daemon is now tracked in the performance monitor. (Swipe down from the top of a project to display the monitor.)
- Fixed release-build crashes so plugins run reliably instead of failing with NoSuchMethodError.
- Fixed an issue where cancelling a build did not reliably kill all of its processes.
