Code on the Go release notes – 26.44

Code on the Go (CoGo™) was updated on October 27, 2026 to 26.44.

Welcome to CoGo R2!

For most of you, today’s release is 26.44, following last week’s 26.43, and the changes are incremental. For us, though, today’s release is “Official R2,” and represents six months of work to add features, improve performance, and make both the APK and the installed app smaller. Today’s 64-bit APK? ~479 MB, compared to R1’s 795 MB and our preview R0 release of just under 1 GB.

We couldn’t have reached this milestone without your help. Every download, support question, bug report, and suggestion helps us create a better IDE. And seeing the projects you build with CoGo reminds us of our mission to democratize access to coding tools and digital resources. For many people, a phone is the only computer they own. If they can’t use it to make software, they’re locked out of becoming developers.

If you’ve been with us for a while, thanks for taking the journey with us. If you’re new to CoGo, welcome! We can’t wait to see what you build.

We Need Your Support

App Dev for All is a not-for-profit organization. CoGo and its sister product, Knowledge to Go, are free and open source, but they’re not free to make. If you enjoy our tools or share our vision of digital equity, please consider sponsoring our work.

Here are some other ways to support us:

In This Release

  • CoGo’s documentation database is much smaller. Help topics are stored once and built on your phone when you open them. Tooltips now look up only the entry you need instead of scanning every tooltip, so they open faster.
  • Quick Build now uses the same Kotlin compiler as the rest of CoGo. Removing the duplicate compiler makes the CoGo app about 63 MB smaller.
  • Plugins now work in profileable builds of CoGo.
  • Project template (.cgt) files can now include a display name, so CoGo can show a readable name for each template in the Add-ons Manager.
  • Kotlin code completion and navigation now stay accurate after you sync your project with Gradle.
  • Git Manager no longer shows unstaged deletions that aren’t real after you change only the capitalization of a folder name, such as renaming utils to Utils.
  • While a Quick Build runs, the Quick Build toolbar button now shows the stop icon, so you can stop the build.
  • The debugger now keeps following execution after the editor screen reloads.
  • Other bug fixes, including:
    • ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException
    • ClassCastException
    • NoSuchMethodError
    • StackOverflowError
